Kent Allen has been named vice president of alumni relations at Oklahoma Christian University. Bob Lashley was named executive director of alumni relations.

Allen has served as a major gifts officer for Oklahoma Christian. Before joining Oklahoma Christian in 2008, he was the director of operations for Continent of Great Cities. CGC is a ministry that places missionary teams throughout the Latin world. Allen led campaigns to England, Kenya, Zimbabwe, the Bahamas, Brazil, and Poland. Before his role at CGC, he was a minister at Memorial Road Church of Christ for 25 years and the pulpit preacher for 14 years.
He served on the Board of Trustees at Oklahoma Christian.

"We felt this was a great opportunity, with someone of Kent’s ability and reputation available, to add emphasis to our alumni relations,” said Dr. Mike O’Neal, president. "Kent will bring tremendous energy, zest for Oklahoma Christian, and years of relationships to the alumni relations program. Bob Lashley has been with OC for more than 36 years and is well known and loved by our alumni, faculty and staff as well as many others in the community and churches.”

John deSteiguer, vice president of advancement, said, "The university’s leadership is convinced that the time is right to make alumni efforts a top priority. As a 60 year old institution, the number of alumni has grown dramatically over the years. OC’s alumni are leaders literally around the globe in business, education, and religion, and they are making a difference everywhere.

"As the vice president for alumni relations, Kent will bring vision, strategy, and strong relationship building skills to the university’s overall effort to connect with and engage our alumni,” deSteiguer said. "Well-respected and widely known and admired, Kent’s impact will be great and long-lasting.

"Bob Lashley, the executive director of alumni relations, is uniquely equipped to advance the university in its alumni efforts,” said deSteiguer. "With years of emphasis in working with others in the OC community – students, parents, donors, and alumni—Bob knows almost everyone associated with the university and he has mastered how to connect with others and how to make things work.

"Amy Gower will continue to serve as the Alumni Relations coordinator – a position in which she has excelled – her people skills and attention to detail are second to none,” deSteiguer said.

"As alumni themselves, Kent, Bob and Amy will be an outstanding team ensuring that the university is focused on one of its greatest resources, our alumni.”

Carol Copeland, president of the OC National Alumni Council, said, "The National Alumni Council welcomes the opportunity to work with Kent and Bob and knows that all of our alumni will benefit from their leadership in these new roles. They have a deep commitment and allegiance to the life of Oklahoma Christian University and will help provide the broader efforts to implement the NAC vision of engaging all of our alumni across the world.”

Originally from Wichita, Kansas, Allen graduated from Oklahoma Christian in 1979 with a degree in Bible. Kent and his wife, Phyllis, have two sons, Kelly and Kory, both OC grads who played basketball for the OC Eagles.

Bob Lashley, who served as director of special events, graduated from Oklahoma Christian and has filled many key roles as a member of the staff. Bob and his wife, Judy, have two children, Andy and Aubrie Ross, also OC alumni.
