The Oklahoma Christian University Chorale will conduct its annual spring tour through Oklahoma, Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, Nevada and California from May 2nd-May 14th, 2009. A variety of music will be performed, including spirituals, hymn arrangements, folk songs, children's songs, vocal jazz, contemporary Christian and sacred and secular choral works by composers of all eras.

The University Chorale was founded in the first year of the University (1950) and is the oldest musical organization on the campus. The University's select concert choir draws its membership from all academic areas, and its members hail from eighteen different states.

Dr. Ken L. Adams has conducted the Chorale for more than 35 years. Under his direction, the Chorale has toured through out the United States as well as in Mexico and Europe, and has appeared as an Honor Choir for the Oklahoma Music Educator's Association Convention. In addition to singing choral masterworks with orchestra each fall, the Chorale has performed with the Oklahoma City Philharmonic, the Oklahoma Symphony Orchestra and the Oklahoma Community Orchestra.

Dr. Adams has taught in higher education since 1972, and is now Professor of Music at Oklahoma Christian University of Science and Arts. He received the Bachelor of Music Education (Instrumental) from the University of Central Oklahoma, the Masters of Music (Theory) from University of University of North Texas, and the Doctor of Musical Arts (Choral Conducting) from the University of Iowa. In his role as an educator, Dr. Adams organized and chaired the Oklahoma chapter of the American Choral Directors Association committee for Choral Music in the Community College, and served for several years as the Southwest region representative to the ACDA national standing committee. As a conductor, he was selected as a conducting fellow for the eleventh annual Classical Music Seminar/Festival in Eisenstadt, Austria, where he conducted in the "Bergkirche", the home church of Joseph Haydn. He also was chosen for membership into Maestro Helmut Rilling's Master Class for Conductors at the Oregon Bach Festival. In 1992 he founded Opera Oklahoma, and served as its general director. When is the choir going to visit us out in the Pacific Northwest? There are many areas which have the population base to fill an auditorium, and there are more alumni out here in the blue states than you might imagine. Steve Wicker, '71
