OC Alumna, Misty VanCuren was recently mentioned in the Daily Oklahoman:

From the hardwood to the classroom to blowing up doors and working with explosives? To say Mustang native Misty VanCuren's journey has been unique would be an understatement. A star for the Lady Broncos' basketball team, VanCuren made The Oklahoman's Super Five in 1992. Fielding offers from all over the country, VanCuren stayed home to play for Oklahoma. Three years later and frustrated with how she was being used, she headed up the road to Oklahoma Christian to finish her teaching degree. Feeling she had no life experiences to share with high school kids, VanCuren found her calling as a police officer. After five years as a patrol officer, she got her big break with the Dallas SWAT team in 2003 as both an entry team member and an explosive specialist. It may not be basketball, but VanCuren has found her own special team.
