OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. (June 15, 2010) – Oklahoma Christian athletic alumni Sunny Golloway, Sherri Coale, and Sam Winterbotham each came away with exceptional coaching seasons this year at the NCAA Division I level. Golloway, head coach of the University of Oklahoma baseball team, just won the 2010 Charlottesville Super Regional and earned a ticket to the College World Series to be held on June 20, against South Carolina. The World Series appearance is the 10th in program history for the Sooners and is the first since 1995. OU women’s head basketball coach, Sherri Coale, took her team to the final four of the NCAA tournament earlier this spring for the program’s third appearance, all from Coale’s era. The Sooners came into their second consecutive appearance at the national semifinals and ended their season 27-11 with a 73-66 loss from Stanford. The OU women have made 11 straight appearances at the NCAA tournament under coach Coale. Winterbotham, the men’s head tennis coach for the Tennessee Volunteers, led his team to the NCAA championships this spring. In just four years with the Vols, Winterbotham has claimed 94 victories. For 2010, the Vols went 31-2 for the second most wins in a season in program history. The Vols lost 4-2 to Southern California at the NCAA Championships leaving a title just out of reach for Tennessee. The championship appearance was the third in history for the Vols. -OC-
