For the second year in a row, the American Marketing Association recognized Oklahoma Christian University’s chapter with an award for excellence at the AMA International Collegiate Conference last week in New Orleans. Oklahoma Christian’s chapter was chosen from more than 175 colleges across the nation for its community service efforts. The award reflects the chapter’s contributions to the university’s school of business, the campus community and society at large. Judging is based on sound business planning and reporting activities through chapter plans and annual reports. Judges reviewed the Oklahoma Christian chapter’s annual report for how well community service activities were planned and performed, and how those activities achieved organizational goals. During the conference, Oklahoma Christian’s chapter was also asked to present on the ways it worked to increase membership during the last two years. The chapter was chosen to present based on their recognition from last year’s conference, where they received the award for excellence in membership. "We were thrilled to be asked to present this year, and the students did a superb job,” said marketing professor Kerianne Roper, who also serves as the chapter’s advisor. "We were equally pleased to be honored with the community service award at the conclusion of the conference. The students have worked very hard on that area all year, so they are very deserving of this recognition.” Officers that attended the conference were Courtney Britt, president; Alyssa Beekman, vice president of events; Jordan Wright, vice president of programs and Sean Padgett, vice president of communications and Web master. Future officer Randy Head also attended along with AMA member Jamison Dobbs. The AMA is the largest marketing association in North America. It is a professional association for individuals and organizations involved in the practice, teaching and study of marketing worldwide. Members are connected to a network of experienced marketers over 30,000 strong and include leading marketing academics, researchers and practitioners from every industry.
