Oklahoma Christian University is proud to feature Shane Slaton in the Alumni Spotlights section of AlumNews. Shane Slaton graduated OC in 1992 and is currently an Electroneurodiagnostic Spinal Technician with American Intraoperative Spinal Monitoring.

Degree(s)? Bachelor of Science

Major? Biology

What are you most known for? Being a servant, leader, humble.

What is your true calling? To display servanthood, leadership, humility in my character, marriage, family, friendships, career.

How'd you find this calling? Romans 12:8, I Peter 5:6

What is your biggest personal or professional achievement so far? There are 2: accepting God’s forgiveness, climbing Mt. Fuji.

What is your proudest moment? Marrying my wife.

What is the biggest professional or personal hurdle that you've overcome? Becoming totally debt free - no credit debt, no car debt, no loans, no mortgage and money in the bank. Thank you Dave Ramsey!

What is something people should know about you that is not on your resumé? At 18 years old, I worked in a gold mine in Nome, Alaska.

Life's motto? Friends are like buttons on an elevator. They will either take you up, or they will take you down.

Your inspiration? My wife Christi (Wallace ‘92).

Teamwork or fly solo? Teamwork. Two are better than one.

If you woke up tomorrow and had to start a new career, what would it be? It would be very cool to be an archaeologist in the holy lands.

How do you plan to self improve? Continue building a personal relationship with the Lord.

What advice do you have for future generations? Stay out of debt. Debt is dumb.

Describe yourself in 3 words? Servant, Leader, Humble

Causes you support? Health Talents International, the makers of Mountain Dew (lol).

How do you spend your down time? Fly fishing, traveling, helping others

Passions and diversions? Spending time with my wife and family.

Stress relievers? Working outside.

What's next for you? I’m not sure what God has planned.

What are you working toward? Taking care of aging parents and financial freedom.

How will you make your mark? Hopefully I will be remembered as a good husband, son, brother, friend, a humble servant, and leader.
