Oklahoma Christian University is proud to feature Carol Copeland in the Alumni Spotlights section of AlumNews. Carol graduated OC in 1974 and is currently the Manager for Charge Services & Systems Support Nebraska Methodist Health System.

Degree(s)? BS Biology - OC 1974; BS Medical Technology - OC 1975; Board Certified Medical Technologist - ASCP

What are you most known for? Aggressive personality; organized lifestyle; lover of friends and family.

What is your true calling? While my profession is not teaching, I do believe that I have the ability to relay information to others effectively. Most of all, I do love to teach the Bible to others when I am offered the opportunity.

How'd you find this calling? A lifetime of influence from my parents and my best friend.

What is your biggest personal or professional achievement so far? Rearing our two daughters who also graduated from OC, 2002 & 2004, respectively, Courtney and Abigail

What is your proudest moment? It was a surreal moment... April 2002...OC graduation for Courtney. I am an audience participant, Courtney is a graduate, Abigail was singing in the Chorale and Rick was on the platform to lead the audience in prayer. It was an all encompassing moment for me.

What is the biggest professional or personal hurdle that you've overcome? Perceptions of myself...

What is something people should know about you that is not on your resumé? My love and passion for the Grand Canyon and it's experiences...

Life's motto? "The Journey is the Reward"

Your inspiration? My father, deceased now for more than 9 years and my best friend - Joy who both have given me a lifetime of guidance, patience and wisdom from their lives.

Teamwork or fly solo? Teamwork.

If you woke up tomorrow and had to start a new career, what would it be? I'd go to med school and care for others physically AND spiritually.

How do you plan to self improve? Haven't we all spent a lifetime on this?

What advice do you have for future generations? 1. Embrace God 2. Enjoy your family 3. Enlighten yourself continually through learning.

Describe yourself in 3 words? Thinker; Analytical; Happy

Causes you support? Oklahoma Christian University

How do you spend your down time? I'm busy every moment of the... down time???? I'm lucky to get 6 hours of sleep. :)

Passions and diversions? Passionate about the music and energy of CHER!!! Passionate about the beauty of the Grand Canyon. I love music and all of the qualities it brings into our lives.

Stress relievers? Relaxing with coffee with my friends; walking around a nearby lake in the evenings; sharing the Big Horn Mountains of Wyoming with our very best friends.

What's next for you? I've been responsible for 6+ years in the care giving of my mother. The next chapter in my life will be when that is over and I move on to what will be waiting for me. I'll be anxious to open that door.

What are you working toward? Never thinking I am old. I truly believe the more years in age the stronger the absolute need to exercise your body and grow your mind. It keeps you young.

How will you make your mark? By the legacy of my life in my daughters and how they choose to live out what I attempted to teach as vital and important.
